You cannot cancel a redeemed iTunes gift card

Once the gift-card code has been entered on your Apple Account, the card itself is destroyed and the value merges into your balance. Apple's Media Services Terms make redeemed gift cards non-refundable, non-transferable store credit. Apple Support cannot reverse the redemption.

So the working question is not "how do I cancel it" but "how do I spend exactly $1.01."

The price-floor constraint

Apple's minimum in-app purchase price is $0.29 (per Apple's December 2022 announcement on the 900-price-point expansion). Prices climb in fixed steps from there ($0.49, $0.79, $0.99 and up). There is no $0.01, $0.05, $0.09, or $0.19 IAP tier - those tiers don't exist on the App Store.

That floor is what makes some leftover amounts unreachable in exact terms.

Without a card on file - get close, accept residual

Closest combinations against $1.01:

In every case there is some residual smaller than $0.29 that cannot be cleared because no IAP costs less than $0.29. If the residual sitting on your account does not bother you, this is the simplest path.

With a card on file - the clean path to $0.00

Buy any $1.99 song or paid app. Apple debits your $1.01 balance first, then charges the remaining $0.98 to your card. Balance hits exactly $0.00 to the cent.

This is the only way to land exactly. Use it if you do not mind the small card charge - for example, if you are about to change your Apple ID country and need a zero balance.

How Zero Balance handles $1.01
